Hey... what's up? This is where you can keep tabs on me and what's going on in my world. Drop me a line or post a message. I look forward to hearing from you!
Finally getting to see my new niece was great! I think she felt unthreatened by crazy Uncle Rob, but... we'll see how Christmas goes. Maybe she'll have blocked me from her memories...
So this year, Chris and I decided to try another Rogaine. It sucked. really... we didn't realize until afterwards that we would have walked a total of 29.5 miles and the total map was a total of 72 square miles. I mean, our feet knew it all along, but... I'm pretty sure this will be the last of our Rogaine adventures...
So after a wonderful time down in Florida, the kids decided that another trip would just make the summer even better. Tana, however, had given birth to my new grand-niece, so was unable to attend. The youngest two were unfettered in their decision to come down to the "party state". Emboldened by the motot that "What happens in Florida stays in Florida", they embarked on a scary journey... and a memorable one. Right, Lis?
Ok, Ok.... I suck. How long has it been since I updated my blog? Ages? Well, here's a promise to be more present with my "goings on"... From a couple of months back, here are photos from when my neices and nephew showed up on our doorstep and we were forced to feed them for a week... ;-)
Ran across this article today.... It showcases some new technology that makes digital interaction seem natural and relevant. And it's using things that are here today to do it... watch the video... (you may want to fast forward to about the 3:00 mark to start into the demo stuff..)
Ok, dude... so seriously, I can't get enough of this song. I happened to have the tv show Chuck on in the background last night and as soon as I heard the bells, I was immediately torn from my conversation with my wife and fixated on the music. I listened for a bit to make sure it wasn't just a portion of the song that I liked and I ran to the computer and found it. Great, great song... And for it having such a great driving beat to it, it's a rather depressing song due to the subject matter - the death of his girlfriend... well, it doesn't actually say girlfriend, so more precisely, a girl he slept with. At some point. Ago. Anyways, it's so friggin good...
So I'm sort of excited I finally figured out how to host mp3s (on a free server) and link to them. It saves me the hassle of trying to find the song and the right version of it on YouTube. And besides, half of the imagery that is posted on YouTube ruins the song to begin with... so now i can post my favorites and you can simply listen without bias... If I get enough feedback, I can change the link to enable you to download it as well. Enjoy... This one is a slow electronic number that is fairly minimalistic in instruments and synthesizes the voice (which Seema hates). I find that it has a lot of emotion in it....
(from Twestival.fm) A short time ago, Imogen Heap took a few days out from making her new album to write a track that was supposed to feature at the end of a TV program. She wrote the song and recorded all the vocals, leaving the music for the composer who was writing the rest of the score so she could get on with her much anticipated new album. For one reason or another the song wasn’t used and so the track never got completed. But their loss is Twestival’s gain as she’s excitedly donated the aforementioned vocals for ‘The Song That Never Was’ experiment.
Here are the individual tracks she recorded for people to download and compose their own melodies and musical interpretations:
And here are the submitted entries thus far... some are bizarre and some are quite amazing. My personal favorites are #133 and #123. Take a listen...
So for work we decided to embark on a project that would show our own interpretation of how we would take an existing Mickey statue and personalize it by somehow tying it into our role at Disney. So here is my version... which shows Mickey as me (complete with similar wardrobe at the time of the presentation) who is starting to break out of his shell... which came from Minnesota (as indicated by the state seal). Inside is filled with a collage of past projects that I have been involved with over my tenure here at WDI. There's a light that you can switch on that helps illuminate the inside as well...
Our next leg of the trip was spent in Noosa Heads - an hour drive north of Brisbane. The accomodations were spectacular and we were right on the beach. Seema loved it and - aside from some foot problems - I was in heaven as well. We did nothing but chill the entire stay.
So this was the start of the trip. Mostly just me and the hotel room. Seema was late, so I spent the first day and half here by myself.
We managed to make it here on the first night she arrived... of course, she was totally unsuspecting.
We ended up getting sick the next day and we missed our chance to scuba dive. We managed to snorkel the next morning, however, before catching a flight to Brisbane.
Alright... I finally downloaded the images from my camera. The problem with the size of memory cards these days is that it allows you to be lazy and never run out of disk space... Ha! Anyways, these are photos from my trip back to Minnesota last November during my Grandmother's 75th birhday. It was also my first time meeting the new addition to the family - Max.
